Scholarship

All persons admitted to the Doctoral School of the University of Opole who do not already hold a doctoral degree are entitled to receive a doctoral scholarship.

The scholarship amounts to:

• 37% of the professor’s salary from the beginning of doctoral education until the month in which the mid-term evaluation is conducted;
• 57% of the professor’s salary from the month following a positive mid-term evaluation.

From 1 January 2026, the doctoral scholarship amounts to:

• PLN 3,570.50 gross per month before the mid-term evaluation,
• PLN 5,500.50 gross per month after a positive mid-term evaluation.

A doctoral student holding a disability certificate, a certificate confirming the degree of disability, or a certificate referred to in Article 5 and Article 62 of the Act of 27 August 1997 on Vocational and Social Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities is entitled to a doctoral scholarship increased by 30%.

The doctoral scholarship is exempt from income tax; however, it is subject to social security contributions, including pension, disability, and accident insurance.

The total period for which a doctoral scholarship may be received at doctoral schools must not exceed 4 years. Periods during which doctoral education is suspended are not included in this limit, including, among others, suspension related to maternity, paternity, or parental leave.
