A research traineeship is a stay at a domestic or foreign research institution (university, research institute, international organisation, or enterprise with an R&D department), aimed at developing research skills, carrying out research tasks, or establishing academic collaboration. The traineeship dates are agreed with the supervisor, taking into account the individual research plan (IRP) schedule.

Duration
A research traineeship lasts no fewer than 14 days. For traineeships of up to one month, the doctoral student must be present at the host institution for at least 7 working days. For traineeships exceeding one month, at least 2 working days per month.
Domestic (in Poland) research traineeship
The doctoral student submits an application for a domestic (in Poland) research traineeship to the Director of the Doctoral School, endorsed by the supervisor, no later than 2 months before the planned start date. The application must include confirmation of acceptance by the host institution and the traineeship programme. Within 14 days of completing the traineeship, the doctoral student submits a traineeship report together with the required travel reimbursement documents.
International research traineeship
The doctoral student submits an application for an international research traineeship together with confirmation of acceptance by the host institution and the traineeship programme. Prior to departure, the doctoral student is required to register the trip in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Odyseusz system (if applicable) and to obtain accident and medical insurance for the duration of the stay abroad. Within 14 days of completing the traineeship, the doctoral student submits a traineeship report together with the required travel reimbursement documents.
